Who we are looking for

JOB TITLE: Biocultural Landscapes Officer
LOCATION: Warrnambool, Victoria
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE, Fixed-term to 30 June 2026
SALARY: $71,100 to $86,800 per annum + super
REPORTS TO: Healthy Country Manager

Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) is seeking a Biocultural Landscapes Officer to support the planning and management of healthy forests and biocultural landscapes across Eastern Maar Country.

This role will build partnerships with land management and research organisations while ensuring Eastern Maar cultural values, rights, and obligations are embedded in forest and environmental projects.

What you’ll be doing

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Be EMAC’s operational contact for the Gadubanud Meerreeng Coastal Trail and related projects.
  • Represent and coordinate input from Eastern Maar Elders and Citizens in project planning.
  • Work with DEECA, GORCAPA, Parks Victoria, universities, and other stakeholders.
  • Support opportunities for Aboriginal employment, business, and cultural interpretation in projects.
  • Promote EMAC’s aspirations and advocate for cultural rights in land management.
  • Contribute to the development of EMAC’s Wuro Wuruuk (Forest Country) Statement.
  • Participate in monitoring, forest management, and fire-related activities.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong communication skills to engage respectfully with Eastern Maar Citizens and Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience managing projects and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Problem-solving skills and initiative in delivering outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across different audiences.
  • Proficiency in technology and digital communication tools.

Other requirements include:

  • Holder of a Working with Children Check
  • Holder of a Current Victorian Driver’s Licence. 
  • Undertaken a National Police Check for Employment Purposes within the last 3 months
