JOB TITLE: Education Liaison Officer

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE, Full-time, 36-month Fixed Term
SALARY: $87,000 to $106,300 per annum + super
REPORTS TO: General Manager – Corporation Services
IDENTIFICATION: Designated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appointment

Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) is seeking an Education Liaison Officer to strengthen and enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes for Eastern Maar and First Nations learners across government schools.

This role will lead the planning, development, and implementation of culturally grounded education programs that reflect Eastern Maar values, aspirations, and Country. Working closely with schools, cultural leaders, and community members, the position will help ensure that Eastern Maar children and young people have the best opportunities to thrive, learn, and grow in a strong connection with their identity, culture, and heritage.

What you’ll be doing

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Implement the Education Liaison Program Project Plan and monitor its impact for Eastern Maar students.
  • Establish and lead the Cultural Education in Schools on Eastern Maar Country Program, including developing and delivering curriculum focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
  • Collaborate with the Eastern Maar Cultural Advisory Group and, where appropriate, the Language Coordinator and Language Revitalisation Subcommittee to support the inclusion of Eastern Maar language in schools.
  • Strengthen existing and emerging education-related programs, such as the Koorie Career Pathways and Aspirations Day and the Koorie Youth Leadership Program.
  • Represent EMAC in working groups and committees to advocate for Eastern Maar learners.
  • Liaise between schools, the community, and EMAC to deliver positive outcomes for Eastern Maar and First Nations students.
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to funding and stakeholder reporting.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong knowledge of Eastern Maar Peoples, Country, culture, values, and aspirations.
  • Experience managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including schools, students, parents, and community members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report preparation.
  • A commitment to child safety and the well-being of Eastern Maar and First Nations learners.

Other requirements include:

  • Holder of a Working with Children Check
  • Holder of a Current Victorian Driver’s Licence. 
  • Undertaken a National Police Check for Employment Purposes within the last 3 months
