JOB TITLE: Sea Country Coordinator
LOCATION: Warrnambool, Victoria
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE, Full-time, 12-month Fixed Term
SALARY: $87,000 to $99,063 per annum + super
REPORTS TO: Sea Country Manager
SUPERVISES: 2

Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) is seeking a Sea Country Coordinator to lead and strengthen EMAC’s work caring for Sea Country. This role will coordinate and supervise Sea Country Guardians, enhance community participation, and embed Eastern Maar cultural values, rights, and knowledge into marine management and planning across government and industry.
The role plays a key part in EMAC’s Sea Country strategy — building Eastern Maar’s capacity to care for our coastal and marine environments, engage in cultural and ecological projects, and ensure that our voices and values are central in decisions about the future of Sea Country.
What you’ll be doing
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Supervise and develop Sea Country Guardians, providing leadership, training, and skills development.
- Support the Sea Country Manager with planning, coordination, and implementation of projects across Sea Country.
- Lead community engagement to strengthen Eastern Maar’s Sea Country Plan and related strategies.
- Promote and integrate Eastern Maar values, cultural knowledge, and practices in Sea Country planning and management.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with government, industry, and research partners.
- Support EMAC’s engagement with offshore wind and other marine development proponents.
- Contribute to strategic planning, reporting, and continuous improvement across Sea Country operations.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal).
- Qualifications and/or experience in land and/or sea management.
- Strong oral communication and leadership skills to effectively engage and motivate team members.
- Experience working collaboratively with Traditional Owners, government, and industry partners.
- Excellent planning, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- A genuine desire to promote and protect Eastern Maar’s cultural and environmental values.
Other requirements include:
- Holder of a Working with Children Check
- Holder of a Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Undertaken a National Police Check for Employment Purposes within the last 3 months
